Phil Foden signed a new five-year deal at Manchester City in 2022 that has bumped up the England star's net worth into the tens of millions as he establishes himself as the 'starboy' of the club

Phil Foden has become one of the most-recognised names in world football due to his stellar performances for Manchester City – and his net worth is also now pretty impressive.

The starboy has been at Manchester City since he was four years old, working his way up through the ranks and eventually making his breakthrough in 2016 when he penned his first professional contract.

Foden made the move from the Under-18s squad at City to play first-team football in 2017 and hasn't looked back since – making 312 appearances and scoring 108 goals for the Premier League champions. In 2022, he signed a lucrative five-year deal worth $72 million (£56m) that ties him down until the summer of 2027.

Despite his staggering net worth and obvious talent for City and England, Foden has a rather private family life that he has protected for years – sharing three children with his long-time girlfriend Rebecca Cooke.

Foden has both a daughter and a son with Cooke, 23, with another baby born during the current Euro 2024 tournament. The star actually left the England camp ahead of their showdown with Slovakia to travel home for the birth of his third child, and flew back to Germany to continue on with England's international campaign.

Hello! Magazine reported that the couple were believed to have met at a party while they were teenagers and developed a relationship, before settling down in Prestbury to start a family. While Cooke is seen cheering her boyfriend on from the stands – often with their children – she tends to keep her own life away from the public eye and rarely features on social media with the footballing star.

Foden opened up about the wonders of fatherhood when he and Cooke welcomed their first child into the world, telling the Manchester City website that the moment his son Ronnie was born was "life-changing" for him.

Foden said: "I was there for the birth. I walked out of the room, gave it a little tear and then went back in like nothing happened. I’m not one for crying in front of people. I like to be on my own, but I was there in the room, watched it happen and it was a special moment.

"Your life changes. There’s no free time, which is probably why I’ve been struggling to fish as much. I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. He’s been quite well behaved to be honest. He’s not been making it hard for me, which is good."

Despite the joys of parenthood and having healthy, content children, Foden has admitted that he has made sacrifices in order to continue to play professional football - and some of these include missing out on moments in his children's lives.

At the time, the 24-year-old said: "If you have a bad game or a bad session, you’re disappointed, but now I think about the bigger picture.

"I go home and see him smiling, so there’s more important things than worrying about one bad session. You look at things in a different way when you’ve got a kid. Honestly, I’m really enjoying it, but I find it quite difficult, always having away games and being away from him. He’s one now, so he’s missing me a bit.

"There are things you miss when you’re not there because you’ve got an away game. I was there when he started crawling, but I think I was in London when he started to walk. Now he’s getting about and walking everywhere, so you have to have eyes in the back of your head or he starts running off.

"It’s unfortunate to miss things like that but it’s a sacrifice that he’ll appreciate when he’s older."

Now Foden's eldest son, Ronnie, is five and is commonly spotted running around the pitch after matches celebrating with his parents and Foden's team-mates. The middle child, True, is now around 3 years old and also follows her dad everywhere when it comes to his footballing career.

Despite both Foden and Cooke's young age, they have a well-established family together and will be adjusting to the joys of having three young children running around. Foden continues to excel in life on and off the pitch and will be hoping he can bring back an international trophy to his family following the conclusion of Euro 2024 this weekend.
