We grow closer to God through Christ in many different ways as we learn and grow in faith together. Morning WorshipHeld every Sunday at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary, our morning worship service is designed to strengthen our faith and challenge us to reflect the love and grace of God in daily living. Our worship is traditional but also alive with the spirit of love and grace. CommunionWe celebrate communion services during the main worship on the first Sunday of each month. During the rest of the month, communion is celebrated during a special service at 9:15 a.m. Sunday SchoolWe offer weekly Sunday School for all ages beginning at 9:45 a.m. Children's classes introduce young people to God's on-going relationship with God's people through the ages. Adult classes study the Bible and other works or feature candid sharing about issues of faith. Our teen and young adult classes discuss God's presence in contemporary culture. Our confirmation classes match young people with mentors from the church who have more experience relating to God. Taize WorshipSt. Marks offers a new Taize worship service at 5:15 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. The service takes place in Bennett Chapel and is a "quiet service" that focuses on prayers, readings, silence and soft music with repetitive words. The service is very meditative and offers participants an opportunity to be silent and listen to God whispering in their soul. LabyrinthNot all worship is done inside the church. St. Marks is home to a new labyrinth, which offers a place for prayerful and prayer-filled meditation in its courtyard. The labyrinth was designed for people of all faiths to connect more deeply with our Creator. Noon PrayerWe believe prayer is a crucial connection to God, not only for members of St. Marks but also for the greater community. Bennett Chapel is open for a noontime prayer service or for personal meditation to those seeking a closer connection to God. Small GroupsFrequently, pastors and other teachers will offer special classes or evening small group studies through the Discipleship programs, a new members' course or exploration of literary works about faith. |
